Inside-Outside House :: Atlanta, GA

The seemingly straightforward and simple design belies a complex program and diverse desires of the homeowners. Although not LEED certified, the house has multiple “green” features, including solar panels, ICF construction, recycled greywater, recycled construction waste, and native and low-water, low-maintenance landscaping. In addition, the owners insisted on a house that would be sustainable in the sense that it would allow them to age in place. A secondary master on the main with handicap-sensitive bath and residential elevator are two features that address this desire.  Pair all this with the desire to create a seamless transition from interior to exterior to take advantage of Atlanta’s temperate climate and you have the “Inside-Outside House”. Designed while in the employ of Harrison Design Associates, Inc.
